STEP 2: Processing

Once your equipment has reached the secure processing facility, Apex’s state-of-the-art Asset Recovery Management (ARM) inventory control system comes into play. A unique pallet ID containing the generator’s name and address will be placed on the outside of each skid. All pallets will be weighed and received into ARM. The pallet will await transfer to the scanning department for further detailed processing.

After the pallet is transferred to the scanning department, Apex’s technicians will scan the make, model, serial number, product category, weight, asset tag and original source skid for each device into ARM. ARM forces the technicians to record all data listed above in order to completely receive the asset into inventory. This safeguard was implemented to ensure all data is recorded to comply with your reporting needs.

STEP 3: Data Destruction & Erasure

Apex destroys hard drives, documents and data storage devices while adhering to the guidelines set forth by the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) – NIST Special Publication 800-88, Revision 1: Guidelines for Media Sanitization and the National Association for Information Destruction. (NAID)

All devices deemed for destruction will be shredded on-site immediately.  Prior to shredding the device, Apex’s technicians will record the device serial number into ARM and a certificate of destruction will be generated in real time as the device is being destroyed.

STEP 4: Refurbishing

If a device carries potential resale value Apex will perform a technical audit, all device specs will be recorded in ARM and transferred to the Apex technical center.  If you prefer data erasure, your device will connect to their internal network via PXE boot and automatically link to ARM.  A compliant NIST 800-88 erasure process of your choice will be executed.  Upon completion, a certificate of erasure is automatically generated for the hard drive.

Apex’s certified technicians will perform thorough diagnostics to test the integrity of your retired assets prior to resale.  Apex is a Microsoft Registered Refurbisher and follows strict licensing guidelines when refurbishing electronics.

STEP 5: Resale

Apex strives to be industry leaders in providing maximum return on your IT investment while safeguarding your data.  Profit sharing is provided on all resalable electronics.  Your assets will be remarketed on a vast array of networks to maximize revenue sharing potential.

STEP 6: Recycling

The Apex ITAD program adheres to a zero tolerance landfill policy.  Landfills will never be utilized to dispose of your obsolete equipment. Apex is registered with the Kentucky Environmental Protection Agency as a Universal Waste Handler and adheres to all Federal, State and County recycling regulations.

STEP 7: Reporting

To finalize your ITAD project, you will receive certificates of recycling, destruction and/or erasure, along with a detailed report including all recorded data, revenue sharing and service fees.
